Meet the Team

River City Races began in 2003 with Camille Estes, an area runner and business owner.  Camille saw a need in the local running community to make the sport more easily accessible to people of all ages and fitness levels and decided she would be the one to fill it!  River City Races provides race management and timing services for many events including charity fundraisers and private company functions.  We see ourselves as a family.  Not just within our staff but within our devoted following of runners who seek out our events knowing that each one will not just be impeccably managed, but guaranteed fun!

River City Races is proud to be a family owned and operated business.

Camille Estes, Owner & Founder

We wouldn't be here without Camille! Camille has 40+ years of running experience and is always happy to share her knowledge.  In April of 2017 Camille relocated to Colorado Springs, CO where she continues to be the backbone of River City Races.  While she's working hard Camille and her husband Jim still spend plenty of time in the great Colorado outdoors with their three rescue dogs Booker, Ike and Roscoe.

Lyndsey Estes, Operations Manager

Lyndsey is our "boots on the ground" at River City Races.  She handles everything from packet pickup coordination to race day logistics.  On race day you'll usually see Lyndsey...well, everywhere!  When she's not working or training for her next race Lyndsey enjoys hanging out with her rescue pug, George.

Josh Thompson

As our timing guru Josh is critical to us on event day.  You'll see Josh on site bright and early setting up the start and finish lines and there he'll stay until the very last participant crosses!  Josh handles our finish line management and there's no one better in the biz.  Make sure to say thank you, if you're not too out of breath!

Jen Alessandro

You don't have an on staff cheerleader?! We do!  You'll see Jen at all of our events working the registration table and then at her favorite place - the finish line!  Jen is best known for cheering on all of our participants as they approach the finish line. From baby joggers to our canine competitors, Jen will make sure you get your recognition.

Fred Geswein

Why do River City Races events always start on time?  Fast Freddie Geswein, that's why!  We are lucky to have a PROFESSIONAL starter and official start our events.

Fred has extensive experience at ALL levels from the playground to the Olympics/World Championship level.  A USATF Certified Master Official, in his 50 years of experience Fred has participated, coached, or officiated at every position.  He has been the Head Starter at no fewer than six NCAA XC Championships and is one of the few to have Started a Championship Meet at each level.  He is the field event announcer for The American Athletic Conference and has served in the same capacity the the NCAA East Preliminary Meet for the last two seasons.

Fred is the frequent Starter at RCR races and helps with numerous other race-days duties.  He is the Head Starter for the meets at Bellarmine U., the announcer for UL home meets and the Louisville Triple Crown of Running.  He is also a fixture in the UK officiating crew.  A major figure in southern Indiana, Fred has directed the Clarksville Summer Running Series since 1982; tabulated the Runner-of-the Year since 1985; and directed the Fast Freddie’s Five-Miler since 1989.

Christine and Andy Hettel

Christine has worked with River City Races since 2010. You will usually find her either at late packet pick up or handing out awards at the end of the race and if you’re lucky she’ll jump in at the starting line and race the race too (and usually bring home some hardware herself)!  She and her husband, Andy , enjoy working the races together and supporting the local runners.

Andy has worked with River City Races since 2010 also and is head timer Josh Thompson’s right hand man, even taking the timing reins from time to time.  If you are running any of the winter races though, they are usually out of there quick to make a U of K home game.
