The 2012 Highland Cup 5k Run/Walk is Saturday, October 6 at 8:00 a.m. The race is a benefit for Highland Community Ministries.

Highland Community Ministries is an organization of 25 Highlands area churches that provide outreach to the community with eldercare services, day care, individual and family assistance, youth sports programs and more.

Scenic and challenging course starts on Douglass Blvd at Bardstown Rd., goes down Douglass to Cherokee Park’s Big Rock, areound and back to start through Highlands neighborhood’s streets, many homes approaching a century in age. Run for the top trophy by ImagePro or take a stroll and check the leaves on a fine fall morning.

Enjoy a Pancake Breakfast immediately after the race at the Douglass Blvd Christian Church – 8:30 until 9:30 a.m. Adults $5; $4 race participants; $3 children 14 & under. Tickets sold at the door.

T-shirts and Door Prizes – All pre-registered participants will receive a high quality short-sleeve technical fabric race shirt, coupons and opportunities to win gift certificates and prizes.

Just as HCM programs serve all ages with activities and family support, the Highlands Cup encourages families to join in a fun outing together.

Awards – Top 3 overall male and female—top 3 in the following age groups: 9 and under, 10-14, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64 and 65 and over
