No Kill Louisville (NKL) is a non-profi t (501(c)3) group
working to change the approach to animal sheltering in
the Louisville community. Those who founded the organization
believe it is possible to save every “adoptable”
pet.
NKL believes this can happen through:
• Trap-neuter-release (TNR) programs for feral and
unowned cats;
• Proactive adoptions and pet redemptions;
• Low-cost or free spay/neuter programs;
• Comprehensive foster programs;
• More outreach and interaction with the public on
what they can do to help.
Formed in April 2010, NKL has more than 15,000
members and growing. We connect with our members
through local events, social networking, the group’s
website and wordof-mouth. The group has met with
local city leaders about how to best become a no-kill
community, including the passage of a no-kill resolution.
Members have also raised funds to provide medical care
for injured shelter animals, including Hope, a dog thrown
from a vehicle along Interstate 65; volunteered at our
pet food bank; helped transport pets to safe havens and
much more.
