The 2009 Walk Away From Colon Cancer and 5k Run is an event to raise awareness and funds to reduce preventable colon cancer death and suffering by increasing screening rates through education, advocacy, and health systems improvement in Kentucky and surrounding communities.
The 27th Annual Pioneer Run has donated over $108,000 to local charities. The last eleven years the race has been linked with the local Links for Life organization that raises money to fight breast cancer through education and research. This traditional Labor Day weekend event has been a Louisville tradition for 27 years.
Packet pickup/Late registration - Friday, September 3rd at Fleet Feet Sports, 1500 Bardstown Rd. from 10:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m.
Race day - Packet pickup and registration starts at 7:00 a.m. and ends at 7:45 a.m. SHARP at Seneca Park.

Looking for something different?
The Downtown Doubler is a 15k course that starts and finishes downtown. For those seeking a longer race, complete the 15k loop a second time for a 30k finish.
Perfect race for those of you training for a fall marathon. The course is flat and fast. The first 400 registrants will receive a long sleeve technical running shirt so get your entry in early.

Race to End Homelessness
On September 25th, there will be a 5k Race/Walk to benefit the Coalition for the Homeless. The event begins at 9am at the Cochran Hill Rd. Dog Run. The event will last a couple of hours. Participants will walk or race the scenic loop through Cherokee Park. There will be complimentary fruit, pastries, and Heine Brothers coffee before the race. Come and be a part of helping to ensure that everyone has a safe place to live.
